WORKSHOP: Crossroads Biodiversity - From a LIFE Integrated Project to a pan-Alpine biodiversity agenda.
Due giorni sui risultati ottenuti dal progetto LIFE IP Gestire 2020 e per lavorare insieme sull'agenda della biodiversità della regione alpina, in accordo con il programma d'azione pluriennale della Convenzione delle Alpi e di EUSALP.

Il 10 e 11 ottobre 2023 si terrà a Milano il workshop internazionale Crossroads Biodiversity - From a LIFE Integrated Project to a pan-Alpine biodiversity agenda. Il workshop è organizzato da Regione Lombardia ed ERSAF in collaborazione con Alpine Biodiversity Board (ABB) della Convenzione delle Alpi e gli Action Group 6 (risorse naturali) e 7 (connettività, infrastrutture verdi) della Strategia Europea per la Regione Alpina (EUSALP). Questo evento offrirà un'opportunità di scambio sui risultati ottenuti dal progetto LIFE IP Gestire 2020 e sarà un'occasione per lavorare insieme sull'agenda della biodiversità della regione alpina, in accordo con il programma d'azione pluriennale della Convenzione delle Alpi e di EUSALP. L’evento è inoltre la prosecuzione del primo workshop internazionale organizzato da Alpine Biodiversity Board il 17 aprile 2023, e poterà avanti la discussione sulle strategie per la tutela della biodiversità avviate in quell'occasione.
L'obiettivo del workshop del 10-11 ottobre 2023 è quello di condividere le buone pratiche e definire le strategie di cooperazione per la biodiversità della Macroregione Alpina, partendo dall'esperienza nazionale del progetto Life IP Gestire 2020 e portandone i risultati a livello alpino, inserendoli nel contesto europeo anche in luce della recente approvazione della Restoration Law.
La mattina del 10 ottobre 2023 si parlerà di Natura 2000 in Lombardia e del contributo di Gestire 2020 alla conservazione delle aree protette e della connettività ecologica. Questa sessione getta le basi per il resto dei workshop ed è aperta a tutti i partecipanti. Nel pomeriggio si terrà una sessione plenaria che introdurrà la “dichiarazione sulla biodiversità” per la regione macro-alpina. Nel corso del workshop, i partecipanti elaboreranno questo documento da presentare in futuro al nuovo Parlamento Europeo. In seguito, si terranno sessioni parallele per discutere le questioni sollevate nella mattinata. I partecipanti affronteranno i seguenti macro-temi: governance, conservazione e misure di ripristino di habitat, specie e connessioni ecologiche, pianificazione e monitoraggio della biodiversità, includendo anche i temi chiave delle soluzioni basate sulla natura e del contributo delle imprese alla natura. La mattina dell'11 ottobre 2023 il workshop proseguirà in sessione plenaria con ulteriori discussioni, facendo una sintesi dei risultati delle sessioni parallele del giorno precedente, l'espressione di intenti per la cooperazione futura e la finalizzazione della “dichiarazione sulla biodiversità”.
L'evento del 10 e 11 ottobre sarà soprattutto un'importante occasione di incontro, scambio e confronto tra alcuni dei principali attori europei impegnati sul tema della biodiversità, elemento sempre più cruciale nell'attuazione delle recenti politiche europee.
Il workshop è organizzato come side event ufficiale dell’European Business & Nature Summit 2023, che si terrà a Milano l’11 e il 12 ottobre 2023. I partecipanti al workshop sono invitati a registrarsi anche per questo Summit.

The international workshop Crossroads Biodiversity – From a LIFE Integrated Project to a pan-Alpine biodiversity agenda on 10-11 October 2023 in Milan, Italy. the workshop is organized by Regione Lombardia and ERSAF (the Regional Agency for Agriculture and Forestry) in cooperation with the Alpine Biodiversity Board of the Alpine Convention and Action Groups 6 (natural resources) and 7 (connectivity, green infrastructure) of the European Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP). This onsite event (with streaming of selected sessions) will offer an opportunity to exchange on the results of the LIFE Integrated Project Gestire 2020 and be a chance to advance the biodiversity agenda of the Alpine region according to the Multiannual Action Programme of the Alpine Convention and EUSALP. The workshop is also a follow up to the first international workshop organized online by the Alpine Biodiversity Board on 17 April 2023, and will advance on the discussion on biodiversity strategies which was started then.
The objective of the workshop on 10-11 October 2023 is to share good practices and to define ways of cooperation for the biodiversity of the Alps Macro Region, starting from the national experience of the project Gestire 2020 and taking its results to the Alpine level and embedding it into the European context, including the recent approval of the EU Nature Restoration Law.
In the morning of October 10, 2023 we will discuss Nature 2000 in Lombardy and the contribution of Gestire 2020 to the conservation of protected areas and ecological connectivity. This session sets the ground for the rest of the workshops and is open to all participants. In the afternoon there will be a plenary session introducing the declaration which presents the biodiversity agenda for the Alps Marco Region. Throughout the workshop, the participants will elaborate on this document aimed for submission to a new European Parliament in the future. Further on, there will be parallel sessions to discuss the issues raised in the morning through an Alpine perspective. Herewith the participants will address biodiversity governance, conservation, restoration and monitoring, also encompassing the key topics of nature-based solutions and the contribution of business to nature. In the morning of October 11, 2023 the workshop will continue in plenary with more discussions, a synthesis of the outcomes of the parallel sessions of the previous day, the expression of intents for future cooperation and the finalization of the participants' declaration.
The workshop offers a unique opportunity for exchange, learning and cooperation between some of the key Alpine and European players regarding biodiversity.
The workshop is organized as an official side event of the European Business & Nature Summit 2023, which will take place in Milan on 11-12 October 2023. Participants to the workshop are welcome to register also for this Summit.
